People are at various levels of diversity awareness. Additionally, people have unique learning styles that requires various learning methods. Whether you utilize training, workshops, coaching or even townhall discussions, Diversity training must address the needs and leverage the talents of your team and consider your company’s desired culture for maximum effectiveness.

“As leaders we have the opportunity to train and coach employees to learn and practice how to effectively manage situations that support the acceptance and understanding of the diverse workplace we are working towards. This gives employees the confidence to be able to step into and be more empowered when faced with difficult situations within their teams and across their organizations.” (Wendy Born 3/18/21) ceoworld.biz

To deploy Diversity learning throughout an organization as a “one size fits all” or “size range” approach is discouraged. This is commonplace in clothing manufacturing output, for example, some socks and clothing items are intended to fit two or more sizes (i.e., 5-6, 7-8, etc.) and generally leaves some people out. Do we know which of those size groups will “fit” the customer who need a size 6 ½?

In moving towards your company’s diversity goals, it’s important to provide comprehensive learning methods that’s specific for your company’s desired culture. Acknowledge, address and expand upon the current diversity acumen of your customers and employees alike.
