While we are not out of the woods with the pandemic, employers are attempting to return to a sense of normalcy. That means transitioning employees back to the office. Employers must access their workforce and develop, implement strategies to facilitate a smooth transition. The process of transitioning back to the office is stressful for both the employer and employee.

Forbes Human Resources Council has prepared an insightful article titled “14 Ways To Help Employees Feel Safe Returning To In-Person Work (forbes.com)” which can assist employers in navigating this new course. In addition to helping employees feel safe about returning to the workplace, employers will also need to update and/or develop policies and procedures related to:

· Workplace Cleaning

· Mask Wearing

· Social Distancing

As reflected in the article, including employees in the process is an important step. Additionally, it helps to create a feeling of inclusivity. While you may not be able to adopt each individual recommendation, seeking the input, providing transparency in the process and providing some feedback on why and what direction will be taken will show an effort to increase engagement. We’ve said it, as have others, inclusion of DEI strategies should be integrated with every process developed and updated within an organization.
